To learn from those that come before us, to inspire those that follow. **************************************** David Packard 1949
“A company has a greater responsibility than making money for its
stockholders. We have a
responsibility to our employees to recognize their dignity as human
beings," Packard believed that those who help create wealth have a moral
right to share in that wealth. David Packard

for people, not for the profits," George Merck II Time August 1952
"And if we have remembered that, the profits have never failed to
appear," he explained. "The better we remembered, the larger they have
been." *Take care of
you customers and they will take care of you.
Take care of your self and you all the only one. "The
test of a first-rate intelligence," wrote F. Scott Fitzgerald, "is the
ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time and still retain
the ability to function." The best students are those who never quite believe their professors. Courage, it's
said, is not the absence of fear, but the ability to act in its presence. Alfred Slone
“Gentlemen I take it we are all in agreement on this decision?” And every
body nodded their heads. “Then I
suggest that we postpone this decision until we generate some genuine
disagreement so that we might know what the decision is all about.” * I am
contrary not because I disagree, but because I agree with you. I ask you not to
agree with me for the sake of consensus; but to disagree as to test my
hypostasis.
Love what you
do and love whom you do it with. Put your best
people on your best opportunities and not your biggest problems. The moment you
feel the need to manage someone you made a hiring mistake.
What I can do better
than anyone. What I am passionate
about. What I can do for money.
The intersection of the three. One must not reject
the data just because one does not like the data. The right people do
not need a manager. Hire the right
people and with no job in mind and they will pick a place.
